I've done it, and had it done on me. I'm not QUITE as comfortable having it done on me, but I'm getting better. My girlfriend and I don't cycle the same, so if we're together, we're NOT going to let a thing like our periods hold off our sex.

Admitedly, we're not guzzling down each other's menstrual blood. We're both still using our own chosen methods for catching our flows. But there's nothing stopping us from focussing a little attention on the clits and the surrounding areas. And yes, there IS a different smell during our periods, but it's not like it's something rotten. it's the natural smell of a woman's body. It's not something that repul;ses me. it's just how it is. I dated this airhead a while back before I was married actually the last one before I met my love of my life. We don't gush. It's not a faucet. It's not even like a wound. It's a little bit of blood over a 3-5 day period of time. It doesn't affect every woman's libido, but it does affect some. We all have different amounts of blood, different effects we see, different hormones, and different preferences, but in the end, it is not impossible to have oral sex during your period. It doesn't have to be gross.

Which, as we're pretty aware, is usually the better part to focus on, anyway, right? You might not want to get your hands bloody, so you might not want to finger her. One word of advice from me? Either do it in the shower, or make sure you clean up right beforehand, since you'll feel a little more secure about your smell/absence of blood. Personally, if I feel the least bit self-conscious, I can't allow myself to relax and have fun. So, make sure you make yourself feel comfortable.

I know what you mean about NOT wanting it all the time. I've got 2 days out of my period where I don't like sex. But just those 2 days, and it's because I'm cramping really bad and nothing will stop it. My cervix is also WAY tender, as are the rest of my internals in the lower part of my body. So, I stay away from sex. But beyond those 2 days, I'm good to go.

Oh, definitely, though. I still can't get over how many people don't know that there are TWO holes down there on a woman. We have the actual vaginal opening (or, how I once described it to an ex, "the big one you put your pee pee in"), and the urethra, which is pretty damn close to the clitoris. The vaginal opening is the one you want to avoid licking during a woman's period; this will get you covered in blood. The clit, though, is good to go, blood free, and this is the part that you wanted to be licking, anyway, because it feels better.

My current boyfriend didn't know, either. I said, "okay, did you know that I can pee when I have a tampon in?" He was like, "you CAN?!"

Oh wow, April-Wine, I just realized that you're Cherry's woman! Hi there, nice to meet you. I have to tell ya that you've got a GREAT woman. She's been a lot of help to my husband and me. Somehow, she always seems to know exactly what I need to hear, and how it needs to be said for me to understand. She helped me to understand an issue of sexual abuse as a child, helped me to understand that many of the things I do now were shaped back then, so I hold her on a pedestal, in a way. As to the question of sex during your period... I've always had severe endometriosis. For some reason, after my last child, it's not as bad as it used to be, thank goodness. My flow is extremely light now, matter of fact, it only really comes out of my body when I go to the bathroom and wipe, only very rarely does it come out at other times. So, it's not really a big deal for him to go down on me during my period, he'll just not usually use his fingers as much. However, I used to have a very heavy flow, heavier than most women, (kinda weird how I went from having too much to having too little.), and I used to have so much pain because of the endometriosis, so I didn't even want to have sex during that time. The topic of being eaten out never did even come up because if he'd suggest sex, I'd automatically shut him down and explain that I was on my period. (Then I'd usually make up for it with a nice blowjob because it's not his fault that I don't want to have sex.) But, I don't think it would be a problem for ANYONE to have oral sex during thier period while they have a tampon in. I used to do it for the woman I dated years ago, and it was actually a little LESS messy because the tampon absorbed almost all of the wetness that is normally down there. So, I find it kinda funny that people are so grossed out by it, if you're wearing a tampon, it's not like the blood's going to come out (in most normal situations), and most likely, nothing else is going to come out either.
