I know I'm the very last person in the world who shouldn't even have the right to ask but it has remained such a mystry to me and that is has anyone ever used a female condom before?. I can remember my sex education class talking about them and I was shocked when I heard they exsisted but I rarely hear anything about them being used. |

When I went to see my doctor about birth control she made sure to show me all the options available to me... she pointed out female condoms but said they weren't widely used and 'a bit like having sex with a plastic bag'! I suppose kind of like dental dams, they seem like a good idea but no one does it :P |

They are EXPENSIVE!. I have watched a couple of sex ed videos talking about female condoms and showing how they are used and it looks kind of sexy to use especially if your into the whole creampie thingy. However its also very risky from what I have seen. Id be afraid to ejacluate with a woman where we are only using a female condom. its great for the pulled out method or if your just messing around but for intercouse I would be alittle shy. Not only that but I can see a girl getting alittle frustrated trying to put it on properly where as a guy condom you put it over and its very easy even both of you can do it. a female condom it looks kind of difficult to use and only the girl could put it on. |

Never used one personally, one of my girlfriends tried it and said she couldn't put it in right when she was about to have sex.. killed the moment "/ They may be expensive but I'm sure insurance covers some/most of it.. aren't they prescribed? Correct me if I'm wrong. |

That is something that DEFFINTALLY should be covered by insurance, if not then they should be free! Especially for teenagers, I think that condoms should be available at schools for free.. maybe teen pregnancy wouldn't be so high and trendy right now! Condoms are expensive.. Especially since you have to use one everytime you have sex (well I do only b/c i'm not on birth control and I do not plan on having any kids anytime soon). But they are expensive and being a college student, it isn't something I'd like to spend my money on.. |

Here's the down and dirty information on female condoms. I recommend you explore the link. They're not covered by insurance companies and they don't have to be. The female condom doesn't treat a medical condition. http://www.plannedparenthood.org/hea...ondom-4223.htm Ann

http://www.plannedparenthood.org/ There are different times of the year when organizations give out condoms for free, finding out about that is basically keeping up with the news, most places get publicity for something like that, helping the community. So that's a time to jump on it. However, having intercourse is an adult activity. If you're going to have intercourse, you need to protect yourself and you need to be adult enough budget your monies to purchase your condoms. If you can't afford condoms you shouldn't be having intercourse. Human beings have desires and can get caught in the moment, however, human beings also have control and there are times when that control must be exercised. From your post, it sounds like you have chosen to not spend your money on condoms. For some people, that's important and at the top of their list and when stored properly, you can keep condoms for a while. So if you see a deal, get a coupon, etc. it can be a good time to spend a little money now to have them for later. I would also keep checking the condom company websites, sometimes they have free promotions, coupons, etc. that can help you save as well. Birth control is part of life, be it condoms, pills, inserts, sponges, etc. They all cost something, but when it comes down to it, each one of those options are thousands and thousands of dollars cheaper than having a baby and a child for the next, at least 18 years to care for and support. Would just like to point out that many users on this site are based in the UK where all forms of birth control are considered a basic part of healthcare and are therefore free. I feel very privilleged in this sense, after reading many complaints on these boards on the ridiculous costs of Birth control in the states. Also, Ann, condoms do technically act to prevent STD's so why they don't treat a medical condition, they're very important all the same. Just how I feel about it |
