My girlfriend was told at a "Passion (adult toy purchasing) Party" that once a toy was used on the anus, that it could never again be used on the vagina (regardless of cleaning - never). This seems somewhat stringent to me, but I have been respecting her wishes on the matter. That being said, my question is this: Is it sanitary for multiple people to use the same butt plug, if it is cleaned between uses? If so, what level of cleaning are we talking about? Would a wipe-down + toy cleaning product be enough? Or would it require a dishwasher ride, and the whole 9 yards? Thanks for your time guys! -Ilish |

Ilish, You ask an important question. If the toy is made of anything other than silicone, glass or stainless steel, it SHOULD NOT be shared between users, nor should it ever go from anus to vagina. Most jelly, rubber toys are porous, and bacteria, germs and fecal matter can get stuck in those pores and no matter how much you clean them, they're not really clean. Those toys can be shared if you use a condom over them and then put a clean condom on for the next person. And make sure you use a condom safe lube, some anal lubes are thicker and may have oils or jellies in them that can destroy a condom. So be sure you read the labels. When it comes to anus to vagina use, it's safest to have only butt toys. Once it's been used anally, it's an anal toy forever and always. If the toy is silicone, glass or stainless steel...those materials are not porous, so they can be completely cleaned. As far as going anus to vagina on the same person, you'll need the full nine yards of cleaning by boiling them for several minutes or putting them in the top rack of your dishwasher at high heat. However, if you're sharing toys anally, each toy has to be completely disinfected between users. Unprotected anal sex be it with unprotected penis, or sharing toys is the easiest way to contract an STD. The anal membranes are very fragile and can tear easily, which allows the body to absorb or come in contact with infections. So each toy that is made of a material that can be disinfected must be completely disinfected before sharing. The following link should explain things further: http://www.sextoys411.com/sex-toy-care.html I hope that clears things up. Ann
