Q. What is the average penis size?

I have seen in XXX movies that the men have extra long penises. So I want to know what is the normal size of the penis and what would be considered as abnormal.

Morphius

A. This has to be one of the most frequently asked questions. Because a man's genitals are clearly visible when naked, most men are concerned about whether or not they measure up. Contrary to popular myth, penis size has nothing to do with sexual ability or virility. But with that said, many studies conducted by the Kinsey Institute have determined that the average size of an erect penis of men living in the U.S. is between 5 and 7 inches long. The average girth (thickness) was between 4 and 6 inches around. Other studies have concluded that the average size of a flaccid penis is between 2 1/2 inches to 4 inches long. If you'd like to find out exactly how long your erect penis is, measure the distance from the tip of the glans (the head) to the base (where the penis meets the body).

Popular myth also suggests that you can get an idea of a man's penis size by his shoe size. In a study conducted by two British Urologists, the penile length of 104 men were measured in an attempt to relate to their shoe size. They found that there was no significant correlation between the two. This study appears in the October issue of British Journal of Urology International.

However, a group of Greek researchers claim to have found a link between the length of a man's penis to his index finger. They came to this conclusion by measuring various aspects of the aspects of the genitalia of 52 healthy men under 40 and matched those measurements to other characteristics of the men, including their age, height, weight, body mass index, waist/hip ratio, and index finger length. The only measurements that showed some relation, was the length of the penis and the length of the inded finger. The longer the length of of the index finger, the longer the penis appeared to be. This research can be found in the October issue of the journal of Urology.

Here's a few thoughts to keep in mind when worrying about what is the average penis size:

  • Masters and Johnson have also concluded that one reason men think they have a small penis is because when they look down, they see a foreshortened view. To see the actual length of your penis, you may want to try looking at their profiles in a mirror. That will give you a better idea of what your penis looks like to others.
  • As stated earlier, penis size has nothing to do with sexual ability or virility. It's like that old saying, "It's not the size, but how you use it." Finding out what your partner likes and how she wants to be pleasured, makes you a good lover.
  • Also keep in mind that a monstrous penis is not always attractive and exciting to women. If it's too big, it's scary. Just like there's slight differences in the average penis length, there's also slight differences in depth of vaginas. If you have a really long penis, your female lover may not be able to take all that in. So if you're not a full 7 inches, don't panic. In this case, smaller can be better.

Most men's penises fall within the average penis size, so you really don't have anything to worry about. The most important thing is not how big your penis is, but how attentive you are to a partner during lovemaking. It's about the other aspects sex...foreplay, oral sex and seduction.
